'Mizoram has potential to develop adventure & sports tourism'

Mizoram Tourism and Sports minister, Robert Romawia Royte on Tuesday said that Mizoram has a great potential to develop adventure tourism along side with sports tourism.

 

Addressing a national conference of Tourism ministers in New Delhi, Royte said the Mizoram state government will organize World Paragliding Accuracy Competition at Serchhip as part of promoting adventure tourism in February next year, an official source here said.

 

Highlighting inconveniences faced by the Northeastern states due to poor internet connectivity/poor mobile phone services, Royte advocated the need for good cooperation between Tourism ministry and Information Technology ministry to the tackle the pertinent problem.

 

He then urged Union Tourism minister, Pahlab Singh Patel to inaugurate Golf Course at Thenzawl near Aizawl and also urged all state Tourism ministers and officials to pay a visit to Mizoram, the source added.

 

The conference was graced by Patel as chief guest. During the conference officials of Union Tourism ministry gave presentation on promotion of tourism across the country.

 

Tourism ministers of different states also informed the conference about their projects and action plan to promote tourism in their respective states.
