Mizoram repeals Parliamentary Secretaries Act

Newmai News Network Aizawl | November 14   Mizoram Legislative Assembly repealed the 9 year old ‘The Mizoram Parliamentary Secretaries (Appointment, Salaries, Allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2009’ on the first day of a three-day long winter session of the state legislative assembly which began today.   The Mizoram Parliamentary Secretaries (Appointment, Salaries, Allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions) (Repeal) Bill, 2017, introduced by the House leader and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla was unanimously passed by all members of the legislature.   Earlier on August 30, all the seven parliamentary secretaries had tendered resignation following the Supreme Court ruling on the The Assam Parliamentary Secretaries (Appointment, Salaries, Allowances and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004.   The 7 parliamentary secretaries who tendered resignation were K S Thanga, H Zothangliana, Lt Col. Z S Zuala, K Lalrinthanga, T T Zothansanga, Hmingdailova Khiangte and Joseph Lalhimpuia.   The House also paid rich tribute to three former legislators - Zakhu Hlychho, F Lalzuala and Colonel Lalchungnunga Sailo who died this year.   House Leader Lal Thanhawla made obituary references to the three departed leaders and recalled the great service rendered by them as legislative members.
