MKYO 45th sports meet ends

A weeklong 45th sports meet of Middle Khomi Youth Organization (MKYO) concluded on December 15 with Richard Merlin as special guest and Vecüto (Ato) Tenyi as guest of honour.


Addressing the valedictory function, Ato appreciated the MKYO officials for organizing the sports event with the spirit of oneness and zeal to promote games and sports.


He stressed on the need to maintain unity to march ahead.


He encouraged the players by saying that, every Olympian and every great player starts climbing the ladder from a village and grassroot level.


Nobody is born champion but it is the dedication and good planning that takes few players to reach the top, he said.


Stating that there is ample opportunity in sports, he said one can become crorepati over night through sports.


He challenged the youth to maintain consistency and aim for national level and Olympic games.


Richard Merlin, a retired engineer from England mentioned about how he was a football enthusiast being brought up close by Wembley Stadium in London and also witnessed the 1966 World Cup final match where England won against the West Germany.


He encouraged the players and extended best wishes to them.


Meanwhile, Khosheto Lohe and Mutsizo Lohe bagged men individual champion title while Thunodulu Therie emerged individual champion in women category.


Cepiba khel with 66 points emerged overall group champion title.


Meanwhile, the village is gearing up to host Centre Chakhesang Area Games & Sports Meet next year.
