MLA Tokheho graces Tuluni at Dimapur

Sumi Community of Purana Bazaar on Saturday celebrated Tuluni festival at Government High School Ground with MLA Tokheho Yepthomi as the chief guest and HK Khulu IAS (retd) as the Tuluni Papuh (Tuluni father).  

Speaking at the programme, Tokheho emphasised on the need to preserve one’s own culture and tradition and live by examples of the truth and honesty as exhibited by the forefathers. He urged upon the Sumi community to continue living in peace and harmony and show similar ways to the rest of the Naga community. The chief guest also encouraged the people to uplift each other and work towards communal harmony.

Meanwhile, Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF), a forum of all tribes and communities of Dimapur in a press note has extended Tuluni greetings to the Sumi Community of Nagaland. Joseph Lemtur, President and Ahidur Rahman, General Secretary of the Forum wishes that this major festival of the Sumi Naga Tribe would bring a new era of prosperity and peace not only among the Sumi Tribe but also among all tribes and non Naga Communities living in Nagaland.

Tuluni celebration in Kohima

The Sumi community of Agri/Forest/Electrical, Kohima today celebrated its premier Tuluni festival with much zest and pomp at the residence of K.K. Sema, IAS (Rtd), Upper Forest colony. The festival was marked by folk songs, dances, indigenous games etc.  

Addressing the gathering, Hoto Yeptho, director Land Resources Development called upon the community to be sincere and committed in their respective assignments and take the society forward.  

He also called upon the gathering to carry the torch of hard labour and at the same time erase laziness from their minds. 

Also extending greetings, KK Sema stressed on the need to maintain unity among the community. He reminded that everything is possible as long as the feeling of oneness exist among the community. The significance of Tuluni was briefed by Guru Sahoto Shohe.  

Earlier, Tuluni committee convenor Ghokishe Achumi delivered welcome address while vote of thanks was proposed by AFE Sümi community chairman Er. Shikheto Aye. The celebration concluded with a grand Tuluni feast.
