Mokokchung Municipal Council informs

Mokokchung, May 3 (MExN): The Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has informed that a monitoring committee has been constituted for implementation of Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006.  

A press release from the Council informed that the committee will conduct surprise checking from time to time besides the regular inspection from the concern departments.  

In this regard, the municipal council directed all shops/traders dealing in packed food items/products under Mokokchung District to strictly comply with the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 and not indulge in the sale of products/packed food beyond the “Best before” or expiry date.  

MMC also directed all shops and traders to immediately remove any such expired products/items from the shop/stock.  

MMC further directed all butchers, fish stalls, hotels and restaurants and related food items sellers to strictly comply with the standing orders.  

“Defaulters shall be penalized as per the provision of the act,” the MMC cautioned.
