Moreh demand total seal of border

IMPHAL, March 7 (NNN): Even though no Coronavirus case is detected in Myanmar, residents in Manipur’s Moreh town at the Indo-Myanmar border have a desire to seal the international border.

Myanmar, which shares a long and porous border with neighbouring China, is surprisingly not among the over 75 countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases.

However, considering its close proximity with China, the epicentre of the dreaded disease, Moreh Consumers' Club (MCC) on Saturday demanded total sealing of Indo-Myanmar border as a precautionary measure to check the spread of disease in the state. The club drew the attention of the Manipur government to seal the border on Saturday.

“The Indo-Myanmar border must be sealed before the virus spread in the state", MCC president T Seiboy Haokip demanded on behalf of the residents of the border town. “If the disease spreads in Myanmar, in no time it will spread further to Moreh as the town is the immediate neighbour of that country,” he pointed out.
