Nagaland lone MP Lok Sabha Neiphiu Rio today said the main concern of the discussion of the ongoing Summit is connectivity of the north eastern areas as “unless we have connectivity people cannot reach you.”

He felt that sometime the North Eastern states have further away from one another because of bad connectivity.

“It is easier for us to reach Delhi than to reach to next neighboring states. So that should not be over look,” he said adding the leaders from the region prefer to have meeting many a time in Delhi and not in neighboring states because of the poor connectivity.

“North East is rich region but because of not exploiting the resources, potentials we remain poor and therefore there is ample opportunity and chance of the policy makers to take the right step and exploit the potentials then NE can be at par with the country and also do wonders,” he said while speaking at the discussion hour of “Policy Forum” at the ongoing North East Connectivity Summit here.

He said that developing the connectivity and infra link can boost manufacturing sector and increase the trade volumes with the marketing strategy and quality control.

He also stressed on the need to have digital connectivity, for which uninterrupted power supply is required. Rio also called for efficient internet network by service providers, lamenting that the network at present is very bad.

He said that Digital Connectivity is so important and unless we have this we cannot make any international standard market for tourists to come to our area. He also stressed on the need to expedite the four lane road, railway and airport projects in the state.

“Without connectivity there can be no growth of economy,” he said.
