Manipur People’s Democratic Alliance (MPDA) on Monday pressed Manipur Legislative Assembly to adopt a decision reaffirming protection of territorial integrity of Manipur.

MPDA is an alliance of eight political parties in Manipur. The constituents of the alliance are Manipur People’s Party (MPP), DBSP, MSC, TMC, RSP, RJSP, NCP and BSP.

“We welcome the Centre’s move to resolve the Naga political issue as far as it does not hurt the interest of Manipur and other Northeast states,” MPP president, Y Jugindro who is the convener of the MPDA said.

Addressing a press conference at MPP office in Imphal on Monday, the MPDA convener demanded that the peace talks between the Centre and the NSCN(IM) should be confined to the "issues of Nagaland only".

The Centre should not allow any issues related with other Northeast states including Manipur covering by the peace talks, he added.

Jugindro then demanded that the Manipur Legislative Assembly should adopt a decision objecting any settlement that is against the interest of Manipur while reaffirming the protection of Manipur’s territorial integrity which the house had taken in the past, too.
