MSTK Culture Society celebrate 25 glorious years

The Mopungchuket Senso Telongjem Kohima (MSTK) Culture Society today celebrated its silver jubilee cum Tsungremmong festival with traditional gaiety here at the Indoor Stadium.  

Emphasizing on the importance of the culture and tradition, the MSTK Culture Society was formed way back in 1991. Since then, it has been involving in various cultural activities by preserving cultural dresses and ornaments. It also started keeping the records through digitization and various activities undertaken from 1991 to 2016 have been documented in DVD titled “Lahbe 1.”  

In 2015, this Culture Society undertook a field trip to Zubza to experience the cultivation method and the students were acquainted with the basic practices from jungle cutting to harvesting.  

This was also documented in DVD titled “Lahbe 2.” Bendangkokba, IAS, secretary home and irrigation & flood control told that the root of culture is not only the folk songs and dances with the traditional attires but it refers to everything that we do.  

“We need to refine our culture and spread the message to the world through various means and the youths of today has a vital role to play in spreading the message to the world,” he said.  

He said work culture is very important to sustain our lives i.e. dignity of labour. How we Nagas can serve the government is through the work culture because, we all want money, we want development, good roads, good hospitals, good schools, good harvest in the fields etc. and it all depends on us because we are all servants and if we work properly, changes will definitely come in the society, he said.  

MSTK president Maongtemjen Aier stated that many of our good cultures and traditions that we had received from our ancestors is slowly disappearing today in this fast growing world.  

He expressed his joy over the celebration of silver jubilee of Culture Society cum Tsüngremmong festival He thanked the souvenir committee for their tireless and sleepless contributions towards making the book which is a collection of cultures and tradition and perhaps for making a fine platform in the field of culture for the upcoming generations in the society  

Dr.L. Watikala, principal director health & family welfare, Nagaland, Aolemla Jamir, additional development commissioner (planning), Nagaland and Er. Nungshiyanger Aier, labour commissioner Nagaland released jubilee souvenir, book on culture and DVDs respectively.   The celebration was marked by cultural presentation from jubilee planning committee, Temjensashi Jamir, Longmiasang Cultural Society Dimapur, MALT Kohima, Aotemolungtsiir Telongjem Kohima and K. Imnajungba Jamir.  

Earlier, Chubatoshi Aier gave opening remarks while K. Tali Jamir briefed the historical background of MSTK Culture Society. The programme was chaired by A. Temjen Jamir while vote of thanks was proposed by Aotemjen Jamir. The celebration concluded with jubilee feast.
