Multi-Purpose building at Wokha

Wokha, July 13 (DIPR): Secretary, Rural Development, Kelei Zeliang inaugurated the Multi-Purpose building of Wokha District Village Council and Village Development Board Association on July 11 near public ground Wokha.  

Addressing the function, Kelei Zeliang lauded the efforts put in by the department, the VDB Association and VCC in successfully completing the building and called it a great achievement. Apprising that the system of Direct Benefit Transfer funding will change from the 1st of October 2017, he urged the village functionaries/authorities to sensitize the villagers of opening personal bank accounts to avail the benefits.  

Stressing on the importance of enhancing the economy of individual household, Zeliang pointed that self-sustainable projects and schemes like horticultural plantations, piggeries and fisheries which are suitable and viable to promote the economy should be taken up.  

He meanwhile appealed to the village functionaries to implement schemes and projects as per guideline laid down by the department.  

Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Wezope Kenye said that the new building will reduce the inconveniences in the district. He urged the village authorities to use their position as a privilege and work as responsible leaders so that the rural populace will witness more development and progress.  

Short speeches were delivered by President, WDVDBA and WDVCC and President Nagaland State VDB Association, Tohoshe Awomi. Earlier dedication of the building was offered by Executive Secretary, Lotha Baptist Ekhumkho Sanrhyutsu (KBES), Wokha, Rev. Nyan Lotha. The function was chaired by Project Director, DRDA, Thungdeno Mozhui, while Vice President, WDVDBA, Zanbemo Kithan proposed the vote of thanks.
