NABARD committed to upliftment of rural economy

Inaugurates Rural Market Haat equipped with drinking water tank and solar lighting at Watiyim village

Mokokchung, March 10 (MExN): A Rural Market Haat sponsored by NABARD, Nagaland Regional Office, Dimapur was inaugurated on March 9 at Watiyim village, Mokokchung. The market haat is equipped with drinking water tank along with solar lighting, informed a press release received here.  

During the inauguration, S. Amarjit Managing, DDM, NABARD, Mokokchung expressed his satisfaction to the Watiyim village council for completing the project on time. He shared that NABARD is committed towards upliftment of rural economy in partnership with various stakeholder who are working for rural development.  

He further shared the role of NABARD in providing rural infrastructure to support the farmers, SHGs and rural artisans. Marketing of agriculture produce has been a very big problem for the farmers due lack of proper market infrastructure and such type of market haat will help the farmers in disposing their agriculture produce and generate good income.  

Taliyanger, Project Officer, DRDA, Mokokchung appreciated NABARD for sponsoring such marketing infrastructure for the villagers. He informed the villagers to utilize the market haat productively. He further informed all the villagers to open accounts with the banks since all the schemes will be routed through banks accounts only.  

NCS, Border Magistrate, Tsurangkong, expressed his gratefulness to NABARD for providing such marketing infrastructure in the block and in the village in particular. He further shared that such infrastructure will go a long way in supporting the farmers and the villagers. He informed that the district administration is always ready to support any development initiatives which will develop the block.  

The programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Managing Director, Care & Support Society, Mokokchung and welcomed speech was delivered by I. Supong, Chairman, Watiyim Village Council.
