NABARD conducts refreshers prog for NGOs

Mokokchung, August 8 (MExN): A one day district level awareness programme for non-governmental organizations of Mokokchung district was conducted by NABARD on August 8. The programme was chaired by Imchawati Kichu, Chairman, Care and Support Society, Mokokchung.  

In the programme S.Amarjit Mangang, DDM, NABARD, Mokokchung shared about the various promotional and development programmes/schemes initiated by NABARD to promote inclusive growth and increase the flow of credit in priority sector. He informed the participants about Farmers Club, Self Help Group and Joint Liability Group programmes and advised the NGOs to partner with NABARD in implementation of such programmes and act as business facilitator for banks. He further highlighted various Central Government Sponsored Schemes routed through NABARD.  

N. Kikon, Branch Manager, NStCB, Mokokchung Branch shared about the importance of priority sector lending and briefly highlighted the various sectors covered under Priority Sector Lending. He highlighted the role NGOs can play in improving the flow of credit in priority sector. He further advised the NGOs to sensitize the public about the importance for having a good banking habit. He further shared various products and services available with NStCB for general public.  

Changkimenla, Branch Manager, Nagaland Rural Bank, Mokokchung Branch, highlighted the importance of financial planning. She advised the NGOs to sensitize the villagers about the importance of having saving account and the need for inculcating saving habit. She briefly shared about various facilities and schemes available with banks including PMJDY, PMSBY, PMJJBY and APY.
