Naga Club observe centenary thanksgiving prog

Pulie Badze, December 15 (MExN): “Leave us alone to determine ourselves” was a popular quote while submitting a memorandum to the Simon Commission in the year 1929 by the Naga Club stated Kuolachalie Seyie, Finance Secretary, Naga Club while sharing words of gratefulness during the Naga Club, Thanksgiving programme for the recently centenary celebration held today here at Pulie Badze Base Camp, Kohima.

 


According to a press release issued by Kuzhovesa Soho, Member, Publicity Committee, Naga Club Centenary Celebration, Seyie while recollecting the past history said, “Nagas have suffered subjugation by vastly superior powers outside in our modern history,” and added that “we are still claimed to be proud that our forefathers did not hand down to us a ‘legacy of defeat story’ without severest defiant of our history and honour our people as a nation.”

 


“Naga Club would not be such an important institution as it is today had it not made its declaration of sovereignty before the British Statutory Commission in 1929 and the declaration before the British Statutory Commission would not have much value had we not firmly stood on the declaration as has done till date,” claimed Seyie and urged upon the fellow Nagas to take up zeal and enthusiast spirit for the better future of the Nagas.

 


The day long programme also featured people like Niketu Iralu, Social Activist and Advisor, Naga Club, Rev. Dr. Benry Lotha, Pastor, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Zelhuo Keyho, President, Nagaland Joint Christian Forum and General Secretary, Nagaland Baptist Church Council sharing their inputs.

 


Former Minister, Seyiekuolie Kesezie, Retd. Director SCERT, Vipralhuo Kesezie, Khyamo Lotha, former MP and former caretaker, Naga Club, former Naga Club, Joint Secretary, Kewezu Mero, President, Nagaland Contractor’ Suppliers Union, Pele Khezhie, were some among others dignitaries who attended the programme.

 


Earlier, the programme was led by S. Peter Trakha, Secretary, Naga Club, Rev. Dr. Benry Lotha, invoke God’s blessing, Medoselhuo Keretsü, Convener, Organizing Committee of Centenary Celebration, offered words of gratitude, Rev. Kelhuseto Nagi, Pastor, Calvary Baptist Church, Jotsoma pronounce a closing prayer followed by a thanksgiving feast.
