Naga Hoho up the ante for ‘Solution before Election’

Urges Naga people to ‘gear up and defend the inherent rights’

Kohima, January 13 (MExN): Upping the ante for ‘Solution before Election’ demand, the Naga Hoho today appealed the “Naga people from different walks of life to gear up and defend the inherent rights of the Naga people and not to allow holding of election in our land.”

“The various statements from Naga Civil Societies and Tribe Hohos and the wishes of the Naga people for Political Solution and not Election should not be ignored by the Government of India,” the Hoho asserted in a press statement issued by its General Secretary Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and Assembly Secretary K. Elu Ndang.

Stating that the voice of the people is supreme in a democratic set up, the Naga Hoho argued that, “The Government of India should understand that we are extending helping hands for solving the decades old Indo-Naga Political problem and not asking for favour from Government of India.”

In this connection, it further contended that the Naga Hoho has been repeatedly seeking the attention of the Government of India “to sincerely consider the general wishes of the Naga people.”

It includes an “ardent request to initiate meaningful dialogue with all the stakeholders for lasting solution of Indo-Naga Political problem at the earliest and defer the scheduled election in the state,” it added.

The Naga Hoho had earlier requested the Prime Minister of India, the President of India, Interlocutor and the Election Commission of India to bring early solution instead of holding election, it further pointed out.

Solution must arrive first for ‘sake of permanent peace’: TR Zeliang

Kohima, January 13 (MExN): The Chief Minister of Nagaland, TR Zeliang today said that “solution to the protracted Naga political issue must be finalised at the earliest time possible for the sake of peace and harmony of all the Nagas.”

“Solution is for all the Nagas and it must arrive for the sake of permanent peace in the land,” he said while addressing at the up-gradation programme of Akuluto SDO (Civil) HQ to that of ADC HQ at Akuluto Town on January 13. “And that is why solution first and then election,”Zeliang opined.

A press release from Media Cell Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) informed that he also invited all Naga Political Groups to come together in unison for a final settlement.

Noting that the land of the Nagas would be among the best in the world once the political issue was resolved, Zeliang said, “We are second to none and given the opportunity, Nagas have the capability to compete at the global level.”
