‘Naga political issue NPF’s top-most priority’

Pughoboto, February 13 (MExN): Naga People’s Front (NPF) president, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu today asserted the Naga political problem has been the top-most priority of the party since its inception and that has remained unchanged.

“The NPF party has taken several initiatives to facilitate the peaceful resolution of the Naga Political issue and shall continue to do so till we achieve its goal,” he said during the NPF election rally of Minister Y Vikheho Swu, the NPF candidate of 13th Pughoboto A/C at Pughoboto Local Ground.

A press release from NPF Press Bureau informed that Shürhozelie reiterated NPF is for the Naga people and thus will only work for their betterment.

The 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, he admitted, had no peace with crisis after crisis that many issues pertaining to development and the Naga political issue have been neglected.

According to him, all the crisis occurred due to some Naga leaders shifting their loyalty for sheer power and money.

“But now the NPF party with few sincere and dedicated MLAs along with fresh and capable candidates will start a new image, new vision, new programme if the Naga people voted the NPF to power,” he assured.

He also reiterated that NPF party belongs to the Naga people and it represents the Naga identity “whereas the national party BJP belongs to mainland India and so the Naga people can easily make out which party is for the Naga people and which is not.”

“Though we play politics, we should not forget our roots and identity,” the NPF president added.

He also said it will not be difficult for the Nagas to differentiate and choose between the “Cock” and the “saffron colour” for their future.

Shürhozelie also informed that the NPF was alliance partner with the BJP for 14 years but could not agree to seat sharing with it since “the NPF knows the consequences would be very negative,” the press release said.

Regarding the NDPP-BJP alliance, he alleged “the intention of the NDPP of seat sharing with the BJP is nothing but just to get into power at the cost of the Naga people.”

However, he maintained no force can break away the Naga people “for the Naga people can no longer be fooled by power mongers” and asserted “the NPF is prepared to protect the Naga people.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Y Vikheho Swu said the NPF party is not just a mere political party but a Naga-mandated political party “which only can deliver development and work for the Naga political cause.”

He also stated election and politics is not just about appointment, contract works, transfer/postings and distribution of money but it is also about bringing infrastructural changes and human resource development.

“Politics is for all round development,” Vikheho added.

Earlier, Working President Women Wing, Khriezobeinuo, Nikuto GB Ighanumi, Xukiye GB Lazami, Hetoi GB Kilomi, NPF Zunheboto Division President, Akavi Sumi and NPF General Secretary, Phushika Aomi also delivered short speeches.
