The Golden Jubilee anniversary of Naga United Village (NUV), Dimapur was celebrated on the occasion of 50 years of existence.

Along with the permanent residents of the village, hundreds of people from the neighboring villages, village chiefs, State leaders and civil society leaders attended the Jubilee programme which was held at the local ground. The first 12 settlers of Naga United Village (some of the original settlers who had passed away were represented by family members) were felicitated by the Village Council members. Also, the senior most residents of the village, participants, well-wishers and organizing committee of the Jubilee celebration were felicitated.

Established in 1968, the village which had only 214 households during its Silver Jubilee celebrations has now increased to 620 households in 2018. Since its humble beginnings, it is now a central hub to several educational institutions, commercial, private enterprises, and Churches. A brief history of NUV was presented by Sani Chakre, Head GB, NUV.

K.G.Kenye, M.P. Rajya Sabha, the chief guest for the Jubilee programme remarked that the name of the village “Naga United” sounds not only attractive but is a priority need for Nagas today. Since the advent of Christianity, Nagas has advanced in all areas and we have everything today but unity, he opined. He added, “Division has become our number one enemy in our society. Therefore, we must strive and make more efforts to practice unity and make us strong.” He advocated the need to look for ways and policies to strengthen the society and be more united.

A Monolith and Souvenir was also officially inaugurated by K.G.Kenye in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Hosted by the Naga United Village Council, a variety of cultural programmes marked the day with performances by musician Jano Nyekha, Jubilee Choir, and various cultural teams. This was followed by a grand Jubilee Feast.
