Nagaland 3rd in NE to introduce rotavirus vaccine

District level training of trainers held in Mokokchung 

Mokokchung, June 17 (MExN): Rotavirus is the common cause of diarrhoeal disease among infants and young children infecting nearly every child at least once by the age of five years. To prevent this disease, a new vaccine called rotavirus vaccine has to be introduced in the routine immunization schedule for the first time by the end of July 2019. 

“Nagaland will be the 12th in the country and the 3rd in the north east to introduce this vaccine,” DPMU, CMO office Mokokchung stated in a press release. 

A three day training of the district level training of trainers was held at the IDSP conference hall, IMDH Mokokchung from June 12 to 14. Welcome speech was given by Dr Chubala Aier CMO, Mokokchung where she encouraged the participants to learn sincerely with cooperation in order to obtain the best result. Dr Kibangkumba highlighted on the importance of the vaccine and advised them to properly implement in their respective health units.

A monitoring and supervising team from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima was also present in the training. The resource persons for the training were Dr Ayangla Saku DPO (UIP&RCH), Dr Limanaro and Dr Imtimmongba.
The training was attended by Medical officers, ANMs, Health workers and NHM staffs.
