Nagaland allotted Rs 108.92 Cr under DONER in 2018-19

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): Nagaland was allotted Rs 108.92 Crores under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER) in the year 2018-19. 


This was informed by the Minister of State, DONER, Dr Jitendra Singh in reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today. The Minister further informed that from 2014 to 2019, a total of Rs 796.4 Crores has been sanctioned by the ministry to the State of Nagaland. 


The fund release during the 2018-2019 period, was however the least amount of funds released for the State over the five year period. For instance, this was a sharp decline from the Rs 195.11 Crores which was released in the 2017-2018 period. Earlier fund releases for 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 were Rs 157.41 Cr, Rs 160.28 Cr, and Rs 177.68 Cr respectively, according to data provided by the Minister. 


The Minister meanwhile said that although in some cases, delays have been noticed in completion of the projects, keeping in view various constraints like short working season, difficult terrain etc, “the pace of development in North Eastern States is considered satisfactory. He added that continuous efforts are being made for further improvement in the pace of development.
