Nagaland CEO appeals to promote SVEEP

Kohima, August 9 (DIPR): Capsule for future voters Interactive Social Engagement was held on August 9 at Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, with Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha as resource person.   The CEO, Abhijit Sinha, in his presentation, informed that the main purpose of the capsule was to have Interactive Social Engagement and promote conceptual understanding amongst the students besides creating awareness to be responsible voters in future. Maintaining that the Election Department in Nagaland in collaboration with different Government, NGOs, Media, Educational institution has been actively involved over the years, he appealed to the gathering to promote the Systematic Voters and Electoral participation (SVEEP).  

Sinha maintained that there has been an increasing electoral participation through voters registration turn out, increasing qualitative participation in terms of ethical response and providing continuous education on electoral and democracy to the voters and specially the students who are to attain the age of 18 years. The main focus of this interaction was to make voter education content widely available to all the young voters and review to put out more electoral education and provide online knowledge to the students, he added.  

The programme was chaired by Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Vekho Vero. Students from classes 9 to 12 participated in the programme.
