Nagaland CM, others mourn Raghu Menon’s death

The Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang on Thursday led the State and others in mourning the death of former State bureaucrat Raghu Menon, a Nagaland cadre 1974 batch IAS (Retd) Officer, who passed away on October 11 in Mumbai. Condolences also pour in from far and wide over his demise.  

Expressing his shock to learn about the demise, the Chief Minister of described late Raghu Menon as a “personal friend for many years.”  

Being in the Government of Nagaland or the Government of Nagaland, Late Menon always worked in the interest of Nagaland and his immense contribution to the State in various capacities will never be forgotten by the Naga people, the CM said in a message.  

“I, on behalf of the Government of Nagaland, convey heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray to the Almighty for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace,” stated the message addressed to the late Menon’s wife Rashmi Menon.  

Home Commissioner: Expressing his pain and sadness over the demise, the Nagaland Home Commissioner Abhishek Singh IAS said that the State has lost one of finest officers and a through gentleman. Late Menon was the one finest officer I have ever worked under and had learnt a lot from him - both administrative skills and personal management, Singh said in a message.  

“I was DC Mokokchung where he (late Menon) had served for some 20 years before and people had fond memories of his tenure,” he added. “My deepest condolences to all family members and pray to God that the departed soul may Rest in Peace.”  

IAS Association, Nagaland: The IAS Association of Nagaland expressed its profound grief and sorrow on the untimely demise of Raghu Menon.  

He was a much respected and brilliant member of the service. He contributed immensely in various capacities, both in the State as well as Government of India and his passing away has left a big void, the association said in a message from its President Sentiyanger IAS.  

“In this hour of grief, we offer our deepest condolence to you and the children,” the association said in the message addressed to the deceased wife Rashmi Menon,
