Nagaland College Principals Forum general body meeting held

Kohima, December 8 (DIPR): The annual general body meeting of the Nagaland College Principals Forum (NCPF) was held at St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama on December 8 with Professor P. Lal, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University as the chief guest.  

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof. P. Lal said that it is a compulsion for the Universities and colleges to contribute in shaping the young minds for uplifting the country. He stressed on the need for the colleges to keep track of the changes to keep the young people ignited, particularly in the technological front. Professor Lal also expressed the need to concentrate on taking up skill oriented courses, and suggested for Choice Based Credit Course in all colleges and also briefed on SWAYAMPRABHA programme. He also expressed his concern that the colleges in the State, be it Government or Private, should renew and reaffirm their relationship with the University.  

Saying that improvement of colleges is the highest responsibility of a University, the Vice Chancellor assured that he will try his best to see the standards are raised higher. Professor Lal also reminded the Principals of the initiative of State Governor, P. B. Acharya asking all 65 affiliated colleges of Nagaland to identify such student of technical expertise and intimate to the office of the Governor so as to help the young expertise in availing assistance to take up any venture through MUDRA Loan.  

Earlier in the morning, Vice Chancellor, Professor Lal also held a short session with the students of St. Joseph’s College and exhorted them to be focused and firm in deciding what they want to do and become and how to fulfill their goals.  

Principal Kohima College and President, NCPF, Dr. Watijungshi in his welcome address informed that 2016-17 annual report shows a record of 50 registered Private Colleges and 15 Government Colleges. He lauded the State University recognizing the need of the present institutions and the contributions towards uplifting the standard of the colleges in the State.  

Principal St. Joseph’s College, Rev. Dr. Father Sebastian who was the host of the occasion, also stressed on catching up with Globalisation, Privatization and Liberalization. Saying that the students are a big asset to the society, Dr. Sebastian said the colleges should produce employable graduates. Dr. S. R. Kaisa, Vice Principal of St. Joseph college, Jakhama offered a special prayer on the occasion. A special song and Rengma cultural dance were performed by the students of St. Joseph College, Jakhama.
