Dimapur, February 22 (MExN):  Nagaland’s sole Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha, Tokheho Yepthomi said that the delay in construction of the Dimapur – Kohima road was due to acute cash flow shortage faced by the contractors. The MP said that the matter was revealed in a letter from Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

Providing updates in a statement issued on Saturday, Tokheho said that the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation have already taken various steps to mitigate the cash flow problems being faced by the contractors.

The contractors, M/s RAMKY – ECI (JV) and M/s Gayatri Projects Ltd have also assured that 2 lane road up to Dense Bituminous Macadam (DBM) level will be constructed by February 2020 and 4 lane road by April 2020, the statement read.

The Minister has also informed that contractors have been asked to rectify defects in the DBM layer immediately, Tokheho said, adding that the project is being regularly monitored and reviewed at the level of Managing Director, NHIDCL, as well as the Governor of Nagaland.
