Nagaland Domestic Workers Union elects new team

Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): All Nagaland Domestic Workers Union (ANDWU) general election was held on August 20 in Assisi Campus, Dimapur. Presently there are 1950 registered members in the Union. 


A team of office bearers for the term of three years (2019-2022) was elected which will be headed by President- Hoyili Chishi; Vice President- Nsungbeni Ezung; Secretary- Muni Deb; Asst Secretary- Kiqheli Rochili; Treasurer- Acham Kamei. The executive members include Avonuo, Sanu Shohe, Gaiganliu, Mridulla Sharma, Amenla Phom. Lovi was elected as the State representative for the ANDWU.


Before the election, Sr. Pramila Lobo, Coordinator of National Domestic Workers Movement - Nagaland Region and Director ACID explained to the members on the roles and responsibilities of the office bearers. 


The Coordinator in a press release stated that the Union was formed with the main objective of organizing the persons working as domestic workers in Nagaland and regulating their relations with their employer, improving living and working conditions of the members, solving problems of the members, trying to avoid wage deduction and making efforts to give advances, intervening and settling the disputes between the employer and the employee.
