Both the ruling People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus and Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidates, according to latest trends, are leading in elections to lone Lok Sahba Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency as well as bye-election to 26 Aonglenden assembly constituency.
As per the update by Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland at 11 AM, in the Lok Sabha polls, the sitting Member of Parliament and NDPP’s Tokheho Yepthomi was leading over his nearest rival KL Chishi of Indian National Congress by 27014 votes.
Overall, Yepthomi has polled 149766 votes against 122752 by Chishi.
The four-cornered contest on April 11 had Hayithung Tungoe from National People’s Party (NPP) and M.M Thromwa Konyak from Independent as the other candidates.
Both the candidates have polled 4408 and 1397 votes respectively.
In the Assembly bye-election, which saw a straight fight between NDPP candidate Sharingain Longkumer and INC’s Alem Jongshi (Longkumer), the former was leading by 6006 according to the latest update by CEO Nagaland.
At around 11 AM, Sharingain had polled 8233 votes against Longkumer’s 2227.
In the previous 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Naga People’s Front secured a vote share of 68.70 per cent defeating Congress by a margin of 38.60 per cent in Nagaland.
