Gorkhaland Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti (GSSS) today held a coordination meeting with the Gorkhas of Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA) at GPPK Hall, Chandmari here.

Addressing the gathering, GSSS national spokesperson, Anjali Sharma Bhujel said that Gorkhaland issue is not only for the Gorkhas of Darjeeling, but it is for the Gorkhas spread throughout the country.

“We have to prove that the Gorkhas in every corner of India supports the Gorkhaland movement,” she said, adding that the demand for Gorkhaland needs to have a futuristic approach. Seeking the support and cooperation of the Gorkhas in Nagaland towards achieving the aspirations of the Gorkhas in India, she said, “We have to unitedly take up the Gorkhaland issue at the national level and not just regional”.

“Government of India will not be able to ignore the national level movement, and therefore we need to knit a common thread and send a strong message to Government of India and Government of West Bengal that Gorkhas will continue to protect our pride and rights.

“We will not remain silent unless and until we achieve the aspiration of the Gorkhas,” she affirmed, adding that granting Gorkhaland will only be beneficial to India as a nation.

Anjali also informed that GSSS is spearheading ‘Sansad March’ to let the voice of the Gorkhas be heard by the 435 Members of Parliament during the Winter Session of the Parliament. In this, she urged upon the Nagaland Gorkhas to extend all possible help by joining the march.

Anjali was accompanied by GSSS general secretary Binita Lepcha along with members Yogesh Das and Lazing Tamang.

The GSSS delegation was appreciative of the unity displayed by the Nagaland Gorkhas.

Former NGA President R N Lama also exhorted the gathering, while NGA President in his chairman’s remarks expressed gratitude and said that Nagaland Gorkhas were honoured by the faith the visiting team reposed on them and assured them of all cooperation in their struggle for Gorkhaland.

The coordination meeting was attended by Gorkha representatives from Kohima, Mokokchung, Dimapur and Wokha along with the sister organisations under Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima.
