Nagaland government constitute committee to review cases of officer under suspension

Kohima, August 21 (MExN): The Government of Nagaland has constituted the state review committee to review the cases of officer under suspension. The committee will be head by Chief Secretary as the Chairman with senior most Additional Chief Secretary and the member and Principal Secretary, P&AR as the Member Secretary. 


The Home Commissioner/Director General (Police) be co-opted wherever a case concerning a member of the Indian Police Service is considered by the Committee. The Commissioner & Secretary/Principal Chief Conservator of Forest be co-opted wherever a case concerning a member of the Indian Forest Service is considered by the Committee.


The terms of reference for the State Review Committee are:


•    The Committee shall review the cases of officers under suspension in order to determine whether they are of sufficient ground for the continuation of suspension.


•    In every case the review shall be done within 90 days from the date of order of the suspension. In a case where the period of suspension has been extended, the next review shall be un-done within a period of 180 days from the date of last extension.


•    The Committee while assessing the justification for further continuation of any suspension shall look into the progress of any enquiry/investigation against the officer by obtaining relevant information from the authorities enquiring/investigating into the charges.


•    The Committee while examining a case shall consider the possibility of the officer under suspension tampering with the evidence, his influencing the process of enquiry or investigation and deprivation of his services during suspension.


•    The Review Committee shall submit a detail report to the competent authority, while stating its recommendations and the reasons for arriving at the recommendation relating to the continuance of the suspension.
