Tehok Hydro Electric Project inaugurated Mon, January 30 (DIPR): Minister for RD & REPA, CL John inaugurated and officially commissioned the 2x500 KW Tehok Hydro Electric Project in Mon district on January 29. The power generated from the Project will be evacuated through a dedicated 11 KV line. The plant is designed taking the economic aspects into consideration to operate in synchronization with the grid supply so that the supply power which will be generated from the plant during monsoon season and off peak hours will be utilised by injecting into the grid. With the commissioning of the project, there will be improvement in power supply in the area. CL John thanked the Convenor, initiators and the Department of Power for their support and co-operation in making the project a success. He also urged the people to cooperate and use it for the welfare of the society. He also sought continuous cooperation and support from the Department for the effective running of the machine. Chief Engineer of power, K. Machieo while delivering the project profile said that Tehok Hydro Electric Project was conceptualized and envisaged to generate electricity contribution to the state power requirement in a small way in line with Government of India’s policy of capacity addition. The name of the project derived from the name of the river Tehok, he added. Short speech was delivered by Convenor, Land Owner Welfare Society, W. Chennyiem Konyak and representative from Chenloishu village. The programme was chaired by Secretary, Power, KI Yanger (IAS).
