Only road to Pantong village cut off by erosion Wokha, August 7 (MExN): The only road leading to Pantong village under Bhandari sub-division in Wokha has been “totally” cut off by massive erosion, according to a press release from Andreas Yanthan, Council Secretary, Khumchoyan village. The release highlighted that the villagers, especially the students have to walk 5 km on foot to attend their school which is located at Khumchoyan village.   International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples Kohima, August 7 (MExN): Kohima Law College will observe International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on August 9. In a press release, the Professor-in-Charge of Student's Welfare, Kezhokhoto Savi said it is important to encourage people to observe the day to spread the UN's message on indigenous peoples. The international day aims to raise public awareness on the achievements and contributions of indigenous people towards improvement of world issues, Savi said. It also focuses on the promotion and protection of the indigenous rights, such as the right to preserve their land and cultural heritage.   NCCAF executive meeting   Kohima, August 7 (MExN): An executive meeting of the Nagaland Community Conserved Areas’ Forum (NCCAF) along with atleast two representatives each of all affiliated CCAs has been scheduled on August 17, 10:00 am in the conference hall of The Heritage (Old DC Bangalow, Kohima). The meeting will deliberate on the Action Plan and showcasing the activities and programmes of the NCCAF/CCAs through various forums, informed a press release from NCCAF Secretary, Heirang Lungalang. Therefore, all office bearers, executive members, representatives of affiliated CCAs have been requested to attend the same positively. Other CCAs which are yet to register with the Forum are also welcome to attend the meeting and get affiliated if interested, the release added.   Storm damages plantations Wokha, August 7 (MExN): Hailstorm and ‘cyclone’ caused massive damage to rubber, bananas, and other plantations on August 3 at Khumchoyan village under Bhandari sub-division. Informing this in a press release, Khumchoyan Village Council has requested the district administration to carry out physical assessment of losses and provide relief.   WDAU reaffirms to adhere to rules Wokha, August 7 (MExN): The Wokha District Autorickshaw Union (WDAU) has reaffirmed to fully adhere to the rules laid down by the authority like fixing iron bar on the right side of the autorickshaw, checking underage driving and driving under the influence of alcohol, and enforcing total ban on new registration till further notice from the WDAU office. A press release from WDAU President, Sulanthung Ezung further informed that a new team of office bearers for the tenure 2016-19 was also selected during the union’s general meeting held at Lotha Tribal Council Hall, Wokha on July 11.
