CASU 43rd general session held

Mon, January 13 (DIPR):
Parliamentary Secretary RD and REPA C.L. John inaugurated Chingkao Chingnyu local ground and also graced the 43rd general session-cum sports meet of Chen Area Students Union (CASU) 2014 with the theme “Re-ignite” at Chingkao Chingnyu as the chief guest on January 8. Addressing the gathering of sports persons, C.L. John said that games and sports was a part of education. He also encouraged them by citing the example of Chekrovolu Swuro and Mary Kom, who has gained popularity through sports. Welcome speech was delivered by President CASU, N. Chingkem,, while special song was presented by Chingkao Chingnyu Students Union. Chingkao Chinga Students Union (male) and Chenloishu Students Union (female) presented folk dances.
    
Mimkut festival at Athibung town

Peren, January 13 (DIPR):
The Kuki community will be celebrating Mimkut festival as part of 50 years Statehood celebration on January 16 and 17, at Athibung town, Peren district. The main function slated on January 17, will have the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio as the chief guest and Minister, Planning & Co-ordination, T.R. Zeliang as the guest of honour. Parliamentary Secretary, RD & REPA, C.L. John will be the chief guest at the Miss KUT contest to be held in the evening. MLA and Chairman, NHHDC, Namri Nchang would be the Chief host of the event. Rock contest and Voice hunt would be the main highlight on January 16, where Chief Secretary Nagaland Alemtemshi Jamir would grace the programme as special guest and Project Director Music Task Force, Nagaland Gugs Chishi as special invitee.

NSSA Empowered Action Committee meeting

Kohima, January 13 (MExN):
The Nagaland Secretariat Service Association (NSSA) Empowered Action Committee shall meet on January 15 (Wednesday) at 2:30 pm in the NSSA Office to discuss resumption and intensification of the pen-down/cease work agitation. The agitation was suspended temporarily on December 11, 2013 for the period extending till January 15, 2014, following the Government’s written assurance letter dated 10/12/2013. NSSA President, Imti Longchar and General Secretary Johnny Humtsoe in a press release have requested Action Committee members to note the schedule for compulsory attendance.

PTCSU 36th general session held

Phek, January 13 (DIPR):
The Phek Town Chakhesang Students Union 36th general session was held on January 10 under the theme ' Going beyond Mediocrity'. Nesucho Keyho in his speech appreciated all the achievers and successful candidates in their academic career while at the same time, he also enlightened and encouraged the others by quoting the maxim "failure is the pillar to success". Also stating that present generation needs quality education, to become a successful leader he observed that it is high time to decide now or never and exhorted the younger generation for wise time management. President Phek Town Chakhesang Students' Union, Zoto Dozo delivered the presidential address with the famous addendum " united we stand divided we fall". Associate Pastor Phek Town Baptist Church Nusakho Chiero pronounced the invocation while Chairperson Nuthitalu Luruo concluded the programme with vote of thanks.

Tseminyu SDPDB appeals for peaceful co-existence

Tseminyu, January 13 (DIPR):
Tseminyu SDPDB meeting for the month of January 2014 was held on January 10 at ADCs Conference Hall with Deputy Speaker, Nagaland, Er. Levi Rengma on the chair.  Reviewing the last meeting minutes, the house deliberated and resolved to propose for health sub-center for Kasha and Turogvunyu which covers 8 villages under its unit. The house also resolved to appeal the National highway authority to take up road improvement and maintenance work within Tseminyu. The house further resolved to appeal both the communities of Karbis and Rengmas to restrain from creating tension but to settle differences amicably and also to respect each other’s rights for peaceful co-existence.  SMO, CHC, Tseminyu Dr. Tenilo, presented the Medical department’s profile in a power point format and highlighted the different activities carried out by the department through the 12 units covering both CHC and Sub- Centers spread over the seven ranges under the sub-division. He also highlighted the grievances and requirements of the department beside the need to build a fence around the CHC at Tseminyu. In the meeting, work distribution was also assigned to all the concerned departments for Republic day celebration. It was also notified that mass social work will be conducted on January 18 in preparation of the Republic day. The next SDPDB meeting is stated to be held at Sendenyu village community hall.
