NLA Complex declared
green & plastic free zone

KOHIMA, MARCH 8 (MExN): The Speaker to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) has declared the NLA complex as a “Green & Plastic free Zone, to shape the complex into an attractive, pollution free” environment. A press note from the NLA Secretariat stated that this has been necessitated keeping in view the frequent visits of various delegations and dignitaries from outside the state to the state capital and the Assembly complex, “who will carry the cherished memories of their visit if the complex is protected and preserved at all times.” To this end, the Nagaland Assembly Secretariat Staff Association, consisting of all officers and staff members, organized a social work in and around the Assembly complex on March 8. The note stated that the entire complex was cleaned with the active participation of the staff members and transformed the area into a "Green and Plastic free Zone."

Appeal for restricted holiday in Peren

Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): Zeliangs celebrate the Milei Ngyi festival on March 10 and 11 every year. In light of this, Zeliang Festival Committee, Jalukie Valley has requested all heads/authorities concerned of different government departments, educational institutions, NGOs etc to observe restricted holidays on the above mentioned days in Peren district. Further, the Committee conveyed its heartfelt wishes to one and all during the celebration.

ANPEPFSA urge to prepare
for proposed agitation


Dimapur, March 8 (MExN): Supporting the seven-day deadline set by the All Nagaland Inter Departmental Field Staff Associations Joint Forum (ANIDFSAJF) for regularization and reservation of pay of work charged (w/c) employees, All Nagaland Police Engineering Project Work charged Employees Association (ANPEPFSA) has informed its three division presidents of Chumukedima, Alichen, and Kohima to be prepared for the proposed agitation against the “indifferent attitude” of the government. In a press release, ANPEPFSA general secretary, Imti Jamir further asked them to expressed full support to ANIDFSAJF for regularization of w/c employees’ service and for revision of pay.  

Peren ward chairmen and GBs
support ACAUT Nagaland


Peren, March 8 (MExN): The chairmen and GBs of the nine wards of Peren Town in its joint meeting held on March 2 approved and supported the stand of Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation Nagaland on “One Tax, One Government.” A press release issued by Ward Chairman Union, Peren Town (N) President, Nampeu Nza informed that18 members attended the meeting where some present important issues were deliberated. The house also prayed for the concerted effort for unity and reconciliation amongst different Naga political groups and the Naga people at large.

Kikrüma students reiterate
ban on burning of jungle


Kohima, March 8 (MExN): Kikrüma Students’ Union has reiterated its stand to ban indiscriminate burning of jungle. A press release informed that the students’ union has been pioneering the ban of indiscriminate burning of jungle since 1999 and the Union spearheads as the implementing agency on the cause within its jurisdiction. In this connection, Kikrüma Village also organized a mass fire preventive measure on March 1around Phuzutu wildlife Sanctuary, Kikrüma and also cleared the roadside, footpaths and other areas that might intensify the spread of indiscriminate burning of jungle. The Kikrüma Students’ Union has sought the participation of all the citizens of the Village and neighbouring villages and the public to cooperate and join hands in this noble venture towards a healthy environment and a wholesome planet. Defaulters shall be penalized a sum of Rs 10,000, the release cautioned.

ANEFWA extends support
to demand for pay revision


KOHIMA, MARCH 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) has extended support to the demand for revision of pay for work charged employees, as demanded by the All Nagaland Inter Departmental Field Staff Association, along with ten other associations. A press note from the ANEFWA informed all its zonal presidents to be “fully prepared for involvement in the event of any confrontation/agitation with the government for the cause stated.” It further reminded that the ANEFWA has submitted an ultimatum to the government for granting time bound scale of pay and payment of past arrears as per the Gauhati High Court’s direction within a period of thirty days, which will expire on April 19. It stated that if the demand is not met, the association would start phase wise agitation, after expiry of the deadline.

AR apprehend FGN cadre

DIMAPUR, MARCH 8 (MExN): Troops of 23 Assam Rifles apprehended an armed cadre of the FGN from Tuensang market on March 5. A press note from the PRO, Assam Rifles, Lt Col AS Chauhan informed that the cadre on seeing the AR troops tried to escape and was nabbed after a short chase. The cadre was found in possession of a pistol. The individual has been identified as T Mushiu Meyo, resident of Yakao. He has been handed over to the Police at Tuensang.

Longleng DC directs
adherence to election MCC


Longleng, March 8 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner & ARO Longleng, K Libanthung Lotha has notified that the Election Commissioner of India has declared the election for the Lok Sabha election for Nagaland on April 9. In view of the declaration, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has come into force with immediate effect. Therefore, all concerned have been directed to adhere to the rules and regulations under the MCC till the election process is over.

DCC meeting on March 12

DIMAPUR, MARCH 8 (MExN): The DCC, Dimapur has convened a meeting on March 12, 10:00 am at Congress Bhavan, Dimapur. All the ACC presidents, frontal chiefs and DCC Office bearers have been directed to attend the meeting without fail. This was informed in a press note from the DCC President, Kughato S Aye.
