NSWW general conference on April 16

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN):
The general conference of the National Socialist Women Wing (NSWW) of the GPRN/NSCN will be held at Khehoi Designated camp on April 16, 10:00 am. As informed earlier, all women members of the GPRN/NSCN including the Naga Army and regional staff, wives and widows of National workers have been asked to attend the conference without fail. Induction of new executive members will also take place on the said date. Those in need of transportation have been asked to report at the 4th Mile weekly Bazaar, opposite Central jail at 08:30 am. Bus will be provided. This was informed in a press release issued by Secretary, NSWW Akheli Yepthomi.

27th convocation of IGNOU regional centre Kohima

Kohima, April 14 (DIPR):
The 27th convocation of the IGNOU Regional Centre Kohima will be held at IGNOU Study Centre-2001, Modern College, near SBI Lerie Branch, Kohima on April 16 from 2:30 pm. Pro-Vice Chancellor Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Prof. A. Lanunungsang will grace the convocation as Guest of Honour. Highlights of the programme includes welcome address by Ezhuni Chache, special song by students of Modern College, Regional Director Dr. T. Iralu’s report, address by Guest of Honour, distribution of Degrees, sharing of experiences, and vote of thanks by Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU, Dr. Imnainla. The Convocation programme is being simultaneously conducted with the 27th convocation of  IGNOU at New Delhi where Secretary, Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Ashok Thakur and Vice Chancellor, Srilanka Open University Dr. Vijitha Nanayakkara will be the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Mokokchung DPDB on April 22

Dimapur, April 14 (DIPR):
The monthly Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting will be held on April 22 at the conference hall of ADC Planning, Mokokchung from 11:00 am. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Muroho Chotso, has informed all members to attend the meeting. It was also informed that the meeting which was scheduled earlier on April 7 had to be postponed due to the conduct of the Lok Sabha election.

KSSATA informs

Kohima, April 14 (MExN):
Kohima SSA Teachers Association (KSSATA) has appealed to all its members to attend the general meeting on April 16 at APO Hall, 11:00 am positively to support the ongoing agitation called by the Nagaland SSA Teachers Association over non-payment of salaries and arrears. KSSATA further appealed to all the VECs/SMDCs/Head Teachers/Teacher In-Charge to bear with the inconveniences caused by its members by boycotting the classes “since it is very difficult for the teachers to make both ends meet at this juncture.” A press release issued by KSSATA vice president Francis Magh stated, “It is highly expected from each teacher to make no lame excuses in failing to attend this crucial meeting.” For any queries, call 9856364548 or 9856626439.

PSU bans hunting and flora collection

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN):
In order to preserve flora and fauna, the Porbami Students’ Union (PSU) has banned all kinds of hunting and collection of flora in certain reserved forest areas namely, Vanbu, Nisonizou, Shuwho, Wutio, and Muthotu. A press release issued by PSU president Veku Lohe and its general secretary Rukuvo Sakhamo informed that with the onset of animal breeding season, the prohibitory order comes into immediate effect. Violation of the order will invite a fine of Rs. 5000/- or more, the note cautioned. It further informed that a standing student volunteers shall be deputed in various pockets of the said reserved forested areas to keep vigil on the movement of people. In this regard, the union has appealed to all the citizens, particularly the neighbouring villages and towns to co-operate with the order.     
 
Flower exhibition in Kohima today

Kohima, April 14 (MExN):
The Nagaland Flower Growers Society (NFGS) is organizing flower exhibition-cum-sale from April 15 to 16 at TT Indoor Stadium, Officer’s Hill, Kohima. Dr. Lallan Ram, director, Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema will grace the occasion as chief guest at the inaugural function on April 15 while Chandak AK , wife of Governor of Nagaland will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function on April 16.  The inaugural function will start from 10:00 AM onwards. Meyievino Thelüo will chair the function while welcome address will be delivered by NFGS president Akruzo Putsure. Brief history of NFGS will be given by NFGS general secretary Sungtinaro Jamir. Closing function has been scheduled at 2:00 PM on April 16. Watienla Jamir, director, department of horticulture will deliver short speech. Asangla Francis will chair the function while vote of thanks will be proposed by Kaisa Rio, wife of the chief minister of Nagaland.

WCMA condemns attack

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN):
The Western Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (WCMA) has strongly condemned the “attempt to life” of Abe Mero on April 9. WCMA president Bino Kenye and general secretary Akhrole Venuh in a press release have urged the authority to award befitting punishment to the perpetrators at the earliest.
