ASU keeps non-local verification drive in abeyance

Kohima, March 18 (MExN): In view of the prevailing situation owing to the onslaught of COVID-19 across the world, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) informed all the stakeholders that the proposed non-local verification drive which is to begin from March 20 to 25 has been kept abeyance until further notice. This was stated in a release issued by ASU vice president Neitseituo Norbert Mere, convenor ILP Monitoring Cell.

 

Tourist restricted in Secheku area

Phek, March 18 (MExN): Secheku Public Organization (SPO) officers held a meeting on March 13 at its President’s residence in Pfütsero where the members expressed the concern about public health pertaining to the outbreak of COVID-19. SPO President Vekhosa Rüho and General Secretary Tho-O Shupao in a press release stated that the necessity of taking up precautious and preventive measures were deliberated at length and resolved to restrict both foreign and domestic tourists from entering into Secheku area in a bid to contain spreading of COVID-19. The house also placed an appeal to every village under Secheku Area to take up preventive measures at its own level.


      
No shortage of stock 
in Wokha: WCCI

 
Wokha, March 18 (MExN): In view of the panic buying tendency in Wokha due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) has informed the public that there is enough stock of essential commodities including medicine and fuel in the market. It is also clarified that commercial vehicles carrying commodities are flowing as usual.  WDCCI General Secretary, S Aben Ngulie in a press release stated that it warns all business establishments within Wokha not to sell goods above the market price and anybody found violating their penalty will be imposed against the defaulters. Further, the WDCCI also warned that any individuals found spreading such fake rumours regarding shortage of stocks of any essential commodities in any social media will be booked under relevant section of the law.

 

ENCSU appeals 
to postpone NU exams

Dimapur, March 18 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students Union’ (ENCSU) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland and Nagaland University (NU) to postpone NU Exams in view of the closure of educational institutions in the State to prevent and control COVID-19 outbreak. Appreciating the State Government for the closure of schools and colleges, the ENCSU vice president Serichum Sangtam and general secretary Wangnei C Jessuhu in a release expressed concern over the university examination date without any regular classes in a semester system. “In semester system, it’s very difficult to complete the syllabus for this few months,” it stated. While mentioning that students of Wangkhao College, Mon commenced classes only few days back after new contractual lectures appointments were made, the union said it is concerned for students to appear the final degree exam “in that manner without any appropriate classes”.
