BSI Dimapur Auxiliary suspends events

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The Bible Society of India, Dimapur Auxiliary on Thursday informed that it has suspended all its events until further notice. A BSI press release informed all the Auxiliary Committee Members, officials of the branches and well wishers that the workshop and Thanksgiving Service which is scheduled from April 14-15 has been indefinitely suspended in light of the national lockdown till April 14. We shall reschedule the dates for the events as and when the situation becomes normal, it informed. 

 

Dimapur Gorkhas distribute masks 

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) office bearers lead by its chairman, Kumar Subba contributed 500 masks to Dimapur administration through EAC on March 25. DGU Toluvi Unit also distributed 200 masks to their unit members. The Union has appealed all the members and subordinate units to contribute support to society and obey to directives from the administration during the 21-day lockdown. The union also appealed to the members not to panic, remain updated, and follow the guidelines set by government for lockdown as precautionary measure to against COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Hygiene aids provided to media personnel

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): Acknowledging the challenging tasks of the fourth estate in the wake of COVID-19 crisis, Rotary Club Dimapur (RCD) and Medical Superintendent Dimapur, provided hygiene aids (masks, washing soaps, gloves, sanitizers) to Dimapur based media personnel through the District Public Relations officer Dimapur. DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Patton expressed gratitude to RCD and MS Dimapur for acknowledging the role of media in this trying times and for providing the basic hygiene aids to DPRO Dimapur staff and Dimapur based media personnel while reminding that Central and State Government has deemed media as part of the essential services that need to function during the lock down.

 

Ensure social distancing at shops: DC Dimapur

DIMAPUR, MARCH 26 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur issued a circular on March 26 informing all chairmen/GBs in the district to apply “social distancing of atleast 1m” between customers at Fair Price Shops, pharmacies and all shops selling essential Commodities.  “This is a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, all the Chairmen/GBs are requested to ensure compliance in your respective jurisdiction,” it said. 
 

Workshop on Viral hepatitis C postponed

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): The state level workshop on Viral hepatitis C, which was scheduled to be held at LCS Building, on March 31 has been postponed until further notice. The organiser of the workshop,  ARK (Access to Rights and Knowledge) Foundation, stated that this was necessitated due to the COVID-19 crisis and in compliance of the State Government's order. All the outstation participants from the 8 invited districts including Kohima have been requested to take note of the same. The organiser also informed that the workshop will be conducted on a later date as per the directives received from the government and the status of the COVID-19 situation,which will be notified in the coming days.

 

Border routes sealed in Kiphire dist

Kiphire, March 26 (MExN): As precautionary measure against COVID-19, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Sarita Yadav IAS stated that all routes to Myanmar has been sealed off and Assistant Commandant Village Guard has been asked to maintain strict vigilant over the routes 24×7. Meanwhile, the Joint Officials of the District Task Force Kiphire conducted two-day sanitizing and awareness programme in all the villages bordering Myanmar. As directed by District Task Force, Dr Kedusato Kotso, MO Likhimro and Dr Dheni Thonger, MO Kiphire toured all villages bordering Myanmar and held awareness program and sanitized villagers on COVID-19. 

 

NSCN (R) condoles

Dimapur, March 26 (MExN): Vice President of NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) Akato Chophi has mourned the demise of Hokishe Kiho on March 26.
Born on March 25,1938, Hokishe migrated from Nitoyi Village to Kuhoxu Village in1939. He was one of the first to matriculate and graduate among Western Sumis, a condolence message from its MIP stated. 
Hokishe completed his B.Ed. and served as Headmaster at Sakipheto Village, Asuto GHS and Kuhuboto GHS. He was also a Sub Inspector of Schools in Sumi, Kuki and Angami areas and retired as District Inspector of Schools of Dimapur District.
An ardent social worker, he was the Founder/President of Western Sumi Students' Union, Vice President of SKK (All Sumi Students' Union), and also founding member of the Niuland Area Students Union and played a vital role in the community in and around Niuland Area.
After his retirement, Hokishe served as President of Western Sumi Hoho and Nagaland Border Village Association.
"The late leader leaves behind his legacy as a potential officer and a dynamic social activist for his progeny and friends to cherish. In his demise, we have lost a pioneer and a pathfinder, which will be hard to be filled," the condolence message read. 
The NSCN (R) conveyed condolences to the bereaved and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
