Kohima DC notifies on land compensation payment

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie has informed that the land compensation for 2-Lane Kohima-by-pass at Chainage 34+000 to 35+600 and Chainage 35+600 to 40+200 under package-4 will be paid on December 4. Informing that the payments would commence from 10:00 am at the Kohima DC’s office, the DC requested the landowners to be physically present and bring along 4 recent passport size photos, photocopies of Aadhaar card or ID proof, a photocopy of bank passbook (front page) and original copy of Patta of individual plots. The concerned village chairperson or a representative appointed by the Chairperson should be present for identification of the landowners, the DC stated, adding that payment to any other representatives other than the concerned person would not be entertained.

Eastern Air Command to conduct air exercise

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): The Eastern Air Command is conducting a peacetime air exercise wherein civil airfields at Dimapur, Imphal, Lilabari and Advance Landing Ground at Pasighat will be activated from December 4 to 10, the PRO (Def) Kohima informed on Friday. These exercises are conducted regularly by the Indian Air Force to assess the operational preparedness of its equipment and personnel, it added.

Ministry of Power’s painting competition on Dec 8

Kohima, December 3 (MExN): The Doyang Hydro Electric Plant, NEEPCO Ltd has informed that the Ministry of Power, Government of India through the Bureau of Energy Efficiency is organising the XV Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2021. The State Level Painting Competition will be held on December 8, 10:00 am at East Gate Hotel, Kohima, it informed through the state DIPR. In Nagaland, the event is conducted by the Nodal CPSU i.e. Doyang Hydro Power Station, NEEPCO. The event, being a State level, will be presided over by chief guest, the Director from the Department of Education, Nagaland, it added.

Unidentified dead body recovered

Dimapur, December 3 (MExN): An unidentified dead body of a non-Naga male (60-70 yrs approx) was found hanging by a tree in the forest area at Vishiyi village located at Nagaland – Assam border. Informing this in a press release on Friday, the Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO said that an inquest was conducted over the dead body which was highly decomposed and beyond recognition. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur Morgue for postmortem examination and identification. The deceased was wearing black jacket, grey sweater and blue shirt and brown underwear, the PRO informed. Claimant/relatives/friends of the deceased are hereby requested to contact Officer-in-Charge, East PS Dimapur (Contact no.7085055020), it added.

Subongwati Ao’s demise mourned

Dimapur, December 3 (MExN): ACAUT Nagaland has mourned the demise of L Subongwati Ao who was the second Chairperson of ACAUT Nagaland. “He was instrumental in guiding the ACAUT movement in its initial stage with his upright quality, humility and perseverance. It was under his leadership that ACAUT's first Public Rally was held on October 31, 2013,” it said in a condolence note on Friday.  His untimely demise is a great loss for the Naga society, it said while conveying condolences to the bereaved family. 

RPP: In a separate condolence message, the Rising People’s Party mourned the demise of L Subongwati Ao, who passed away at the age of 74.  “As a retired government servant he was actively engaged in public life, and was a founder member of the ACAUT movement. He was also the first Chairman of DUCCF (Dimapur Urban Colony Chairman Federation),” it said. Describing late Subongwati as a humble and easy-going person, the RPP stated that the deceased leader guided the movement with deftness and “was able to command the respect of all the different organisations under the ACAUT banner.” The Naga family has lost a benevolent figure, somebody who preferred to shun limelight, it added, while conveying condolences to the bereaved family.
