Deputy Chief Minister flays attack

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has condemned the grenade blast that took place at the busy RGB Road Guwahati on May 16. ”While the overall law and order situation in the whole Northeast was peaceful, such cowardly acts by some disgruntled elements has sent panic and fear psychosis in the minds of the people,” stated Deputy Chief Minister in a condemnation note issued by Media Cell Deputy CM. Patton urged the law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book at the earliest and befitting punishment be given according to relevant sections of the law. He further prayed for speedy recovery of those injured in the incident and expressed deepest condolences to the family members. Meanwhile, Patton also alerted Nagaland State Police department to be vigilant and take preemptive measures particularly in public places to avert any such subversive activities in the state. He also urged the police department and other intelligent agencies in the home state to be vigilant.

Excise dept seizes 36,900 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): In a major haul of Psychotropic drugs, the Narcotic Cell of the Excise department, Nagaland seized a total of 36,900 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon on May 14 at New Peducha, Kohima on May 14. Based on intelligence inputs, the Excise Narcotic Cell duty party intercepted an unregistered passenger Sumo vehicle at Peducha and recovered the drugs concealed inside two plastic water pipes. In this connection, one accused Vinika Awomi (31) was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act 1985, and further investigation is on. The value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around 6 lakhs rupees. This was stated in a press note issued by S Chanlei Angh, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (NC).

DoSE informs teachers

DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): The tentative seniority list of Primary Teachers and Graduate Teachers has been prepared by the Department of School Education for claims and objections within a period of one month w.e.f. May 15, 2019. A notice from the Director of School Education has informed all concerned to consult their respective SDEOs/DEOs for further necessary action.

CS&FC notifies on GPF account

Kohima, May 16 (MExN): The Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner (CS&FC) in a circular has informed that advances/withdrawal in regard to the revision of pay are impounded to the GPF accounts for the period January 1, 2018 to February 29, 2020 in respect of employees covered under the Old Pension Scheme is not permissible till the expiry of the impounded period. In this regard, all Drawing and Disbursing Officers and Treasury Officers have been directed to ensure that no advances/withdrawals are permitted from impounded amount of the GPF account till February 2020.

Wokha Police apprehends extortionist

Wokha, May 16 (MExN): The Wokha Police on May 14 apprehended one extortionist Wopenthung Yanthan of Lakhuti village and a resident of Tsumang “A” colony under Wokha town. According to DIPR report, during the time of his arrest one toy pistol was found in his possession. It stated that he was forcibly taking shop items from one Aluminum shop located at Police point area, Wokha town using the toy pistol. In this connection, a case vide Wokha Police Station Case No.0021/2019 was registered and accused was booked under Section 384 IPC for investigation.

FGN terminates one from service

DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has removed the Midan Peyu of Zeliang Region NNC/FGN, Namrikiu Zeliang from office. A notice issued by the Ministry of Rali Wali, FGN informed that his “service is terminated with immediate effect owing to his non-cooperation of the government policies and programmes, Tatar Hoho decisions and his opposition to the ongoing talks between the NNPGs and the Government of India.” “This has the approval of the honourable Kedahge of the FGN, Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya. A new Midan Peyu of the aforementioned Region will be appointed by the FGN at the earliest,” it added.

JCPI calls tribal hohos for meet

Dimapur, May 16 (MExN): The JCPI has requested the presidents and general secretaries of all the 16 tribe hohos, mass-based organizations, and CSO leaders to attend the meeting called by the committee on May 18 at Tourist Lodge hotel, Dimapur, 11:00 am. In this regard JCPI Convenor, K Ghokheto Chophy and Secretary Tia Longchar stated it has dispatched meeting circular to all responsible organizations but if tribal bodies/organizations haven’t received the official intimation, its unintended for which apology is sought; and at the same time request all the concerned organizations to attend the meeting regardless of whether the dispatched letter has reached in time or not.
