KMC informs businesses in Kohima 

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): In pursuance of the home department coordination meeting minutes, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) directed all the shopkeepers and business establishments within KMC to white wash/paint the front side of their respective building and shops facing the road on or before August 8 in view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration. This was stated in a circular issued by KMC administrator T. Lanusenla Longkumer.

Deputy CM extends Nyaknyulum greetings

KOHIMA, JULY 31 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton has greeted the Chang community on the occasion of Nyaknyulum. Patton, in a press release, said that since the festival is celebrated for deliverance from darkness, “it signifies victory of the good over evil.” The Deputy CM believed that the celebrations will bring happiness and joy to all partaking in it. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, he conveyed “heartiest festive greetings” and hoped that it is celebrated with grandeur. 

Gov extends Tsungremong & Naknyulüm greetings

KOHIMA, JULY 31 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has extended Tsungremong and Naknyulüm greetings to the Ao and Chang communities respectively, and also to the people of Nagaland.  “Tsungremong is traditionally celebrated to reinforce their bond of brotherhood and unity. It is also a time of thanks giving to God for a bountiful harvest. This centuries old tradition is a priceless cultural heritage of the Ao people,” the Governor stated in a press note. He urged the community, especially the youth, to imbibe and propagate the values of brotherhood inherent in this festival. He further stated that Naknyulüm is a “religious ceremony to celebrate their deliverance from darkness, good over evil and love over hatred. On this occasion the Changs share their produce and exchange gifts with one another.” The centuries old festival and its rituals signify and embody the deep seated philosophy of the community and its cultural values – of peaceful and harmonious co-existence not only among the people but also with the environment, he added. 

Home Dept informs on ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign

KOHIMA, JULY 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department has informed that to mark the 75 years of India's Independence and for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga ' campaign, the Indian national flags for which supply orders have been placed with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India will start arriving in Dimapur in a few days. From Dimapur, the flags will be transported in police vehicles to all the District headquarters. The respective Deputy Commissioners will make the flags available through the Block Development Officers in the villages and through the Administrators in the cities and towns. The Flag will be of size 20 inch × 30 inch and may be purchased at Rs 20 (twenty) each. The department urged everyone in the State to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement by hoisting the flag on their house from August 13 to 15.

KSUD membership drive from Aug 1

DIMAPUR, JULY 31 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) has informed that it will be carrying out a membership drive from August 1 to 31. A press release from the union urged every student to register themselves so as to ensure appropriate census of the students. Meanwhile the union has appealed to those students residing as domestic helpers to enroll themselves without fail.
