Bethesda Hr. Sec. Sec. School, Dimapur commemorated the first phase of World Environment Day 2018 with painting competition on June 4. Paintings were done according to group wise as, Group A (class 9 & 10), Group B (class 6, 7 & 8) and Group C (Class3, 4 & 5). The competition held on the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ will culminate on June 5 with seminar for Class 9 and 10 and Quiz for Class 11 and 12 Science and Arts.
Advisor for Tourism & Art & Culture Khehovi Yepthomi with Commissioner & Secretary Tourism, Tourism Officials and representative from Landowners Union Kisama visited the Heritage Village at Kisama on June 4 to inspect the complex and the construction of log huts site under Swadesh Dharshan. Keeping in mind of the current year Hornbill Festival, the Advisor along with the Tourism Officials and Village representatives deliberated on the works in progress and also on the future plan of action.
To strengthen healthcare facilities and take healthcare to the doorstep of the public in rural areas, Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) team comprising of Dr. Kihito, Dr. Kipito, Dr. Shikatoli, Dr. Imsongienla, Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer along with IEC bureau, MMU & RBSK team conducted an MMU Camp in Saptiqa on June 2. Saptiqa PHC covers three surrounding villages with one located at a difficult area to reach area under Zunheboto district. The camp administered 115 OPDs, 22 Lab test, FGD sessions and counselling was also conducted. Free medicines and IEC materials were distributed.
An initiative of Eden Enterprises and Ministry, a franchise of Hope Cafe, a cafe that employs and empowers the differently abled, was launched on June 4 by Imnatiba Jamir, Advisor to the Government of Nagaland, Industry, NIDC and chairman District Planning and Development Board Mokokchung. The dedication prayer and blessing was pronounced by Rev. Hevukhu Achumi, Executive Secretary (WSBAK). The franchise is located next to ICICI bank at Midland, opposite Dimapur club, Dimapur. It may also be mentioned that the main Hope Cafe is located opposite the DABA in Duncan, Dimapur.
Unity College of Teacher Education 2nd Semester Student Teacher performed a short play titled ‘Destiny’ adapted from Angami folklore ‘A Tale of a Warrior’. It was directed by Vikheto Uto Chishi, Assistant Prof UCTE and performed during the Cultural Day 2018 held on June 2 at College Campus. Dr. R K Behera, Dean of Social Sciences Parkside Christian College (Autonomous) graced the occasion as resource person.
Cornerstone School and College held a felicitation programme for their Principal Dr. Sentisangla Imsong for achieving doctorate degree from ICFAI. She is the first from ICFAI University, Nagaland to have completed the PhD and also an awarded ICSSR doctoral fellowship, New Delhi. The research work was written under the title, ‘A study on the traditional system of self-governance among the Ao-Nagas.’ She contributed four journals of which one was for international publication.
