ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), the social and human development wing of Salesian of Don Bosco, Dimapur Province celebrated World NGO day at AIDA campus on February 27. The event marked the launch of new environment protection programme ‘Action for Protection of Environment in North East India Region’ (APENIR). The event was graced by Tiakala Ao, Chief General Manager NABARD, Dimapur as special guest. Animal health camp-cum-training on livestock farming and awareness programme under on-going schemes (NLM, CMMFD) an undertaking of Village Adoption Programme for the 10th Northern Angami-1 A/C 2023-24 was conducted at P Khel Council Hall Kohima village on March 1. Awareness seminar was given to 35 livestock farmers on piggery, rabbitry and poultry farming and various on-going Schemes/Projects like NLM, CMMFI etc in AH & Veterinary service department. The resource persons were Dr Keyolenu Yore VAS and Dr N Soukhrie VAS. Free anti rabies vaccination was also provided by Dr Elizabeth Yhome VAS, Biseno VFA and Tiabenla VFA wherein 45 dogs and cats were vaccinated. Animal health care treatment was conducted by Dr Kekhrie VAS, Tseilievi VFA and Ruopfuselie VFA. Medicines, deworming, vitamins and mineral mixtures were distributed to 50 farmers. (DIPR Photo) 
Block level Assessment camp for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) for students and identified Home Based Children in the age group of 6 to 18 years was conducted on February 24, 26 and 27 for Seyochung, Kiphire and Pungro EBRC by Samagra Shiksha, Nagaland along with technical personals from collaborative partners, ELITE (moving towards Independent Living) Dimapur, Nagaland for Prosthetic and Orthotics, Soundbeatz Pvt Ltd, Delhi for Hearing Impaired and Ophthalmic Assistant from the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kiphire for Vision. During the camp, 86 children from 3 Blocks were assessed where 75 were identified as Visual Impaired, 3 with Hearing Impaired and 8 with Locomotor.
EBRC (Educational Block Resource Centre) Seyochung conducted Assessment Camp on February 24, for identified Children with Special Needs (CwSN) between 6 to 18 years of age, studying in Government School under EBRC Seyochung. The camp conducted by State Mission Office Samagra Shiksha along with technical personals from collaborative partners ELITE (Moving towards independent living Dimapur, Nagaland) for prosthetic and orthotics and soundbeatz Pvt Ltd Mayur Vihar East Delhi for hearing assessment.

Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees Association (CANSSEA) of Dimapur unit elected new members during its annual general meeting held at the Directorate of Land Resources & Survey, Dimapur on February 23. The newly elected members include: I Anungba Sanglir, Joint Director, F&CS as President; Bokaro Sema, Range Officer (Forest) as Vice President; Lolano Patton, DPRO, DIPR as General Secretary; Thomas Wilson, Asst. The three-day Children Centric Outreach Programme on Science Awareness and Cognitive Science conducted by Charity Welfare Society (CWS) Khezhakeno, Phek district and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India concluded on March 1. On February 28 and 29, it was held at Mt Kahiu Christian School, Khezhakeno while the concluding programme was at Government High School, Khezhakeno. In both the schools, the society organised various activities and competitions including drawing, essay writing, quiz, model making and also Science Exhibition. The winners of the competitions were awarded with top three prizes while all the participants received participation certificates.
The 78 Bn CRPF organised a Civic Action Programme at Sechu-Zubza with the aim to bridge the gap between the public and CRPF on March 1. Taking note of the requirement projected by the village council, the 78 Bn CRPF conducted taxi/bus waiting shed in a site proposed by the village council on NH-02 at Sechu-Zubza. Minority Students Union, Dimapur Government College (DGC) organised its 4th freshers meet cum felicitation programme at DGC Auditorium on February 25. The programme was graced by Arvind Damani, National Executive Member of BJP Yuva Morcha as chief guest along with Bishnu Bhattacharjee, Chairman Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland & President Minority Wing NPF Central as special guest. Professor Makhan Chetia, retired Vice Principal, DGC was the guest of honour. During the event, Susmita Banik was declared as Miss Freshers and Abhishek Ahmed as Mr Freshers of MSUDGC 4th Freshers Meet 2024. 
Eden Hr Sec School, Dimapur organised one-day seminar on NEP 2020 for the teaching staff on March 2. The resource persons were the Associate Professors from Dimapur Government College – Dr Meripeni Ngully, Associate Prof and HOD of History, Ngutoli Y Swu, Asst Prof History Department and Rebainla Ao, Associate Prof Department of Education. The topics covered were, “Introduction to NEP 2020”, “Implementation of NEP 2020 in Nagaland  Its Challenges”, and “Teaching Pedagogy”.
IGNOU Regional Centre, Kohima conducted a meeting of the Coordinators and Programmes-in-Charge of the Learner Support Centres under its jurisdiction in Face-to-Face Mode at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on February 27 with Dr T Iralu, former Regional Director RC, Kohima as the special guest. During the technical session, Dr Mayonmi Shimray, Regional Director, RC Kohima gave a presentation on the overall system, formalities for admission, renewal of part-time staff at LSCs and preparation of Projects etc. The Finance & Accounts and administration matters at Learner Support Centres were jointly presented by Kh Sushil Kumar Singh and RV Tetso, both Assistant Registrars at RC Kohima. Limaakum Lemtur, Assistant Executive (DP) gave a detailed overview regarding norms to be followed while handling assignments, student grievances, the uses of the University website and issues related to Student Support Services.

 

Kohima College observed its 55th cultural cum literary day with Megovono Üsou, HoD, Associate Professor, Department of English, Kohima College as special guest on March 1. The highlights of the day were several performances from the Kohima College choir, individual students and different communities participating in a folk song competition. A debate was also conducted on the topic “Westernisation is a threat to Naga Culture.”
The Losami Students' Union (LSU) organised a felicitation programme on February 24 for Tsuweu Mebou, daughter of Pfutsuwete Mebou and Chekeleu Mekrisuh, daughter of Kohite Mekrisuh for winning bronze medal in 800M race and silver medal in Javelin throw respectively during the recently concluded 3rd Edition of Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 held from February 12 to 17.
Losami Students’ Union organised 1st Phase of Cleanliness Drive under the theme “Creating a culture of cleanliness” on February 24.
A consultative meeting with District Nodal Officers and Training of District Functionaries under Mission Shakti, State Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW) under the Social Welfare Department was held at the conference hall, SIRD Kohima on February 28 and 29. The keynote address was delivered by Martha R Ritse, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare, and Introduction by Bodeno S Colo Additional Secretary, Social Welfare. Sentilong Ozukum, SDO, District Nodal Officer (DNO) Tuensang and Kelengunuo Solo, EAC, DNO Niuland shared the best practices conducted in their respective districts. Altogether 80 States and District functionaries of One Stop Centre and District Hub for Empowerment of Women attended the training. The Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) celebrated its 13th Foundation-cum-Cultural Day on March 1. Prof GT Thong, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Kohima Campus, Nagaland University graced the function as a special guest. The significance of Foundation Day was shared by Dr Kate Dandesh Kumar, Principal of MITE. The student-teachers performed a cultural show, folk dance, skits, snail eating competition for teacher educators and essence of cultural day. 
Model Christian College celebrated its annual cultural day on the theme ‘Appreciating Roots Revitalizing Culture’ on March 2 with Dr Theyiesinuo Keditsu, Assistant Professor, Kohima College as the special guest. The event witnessed folk-song, folkplay, traditional war dance and others. The major highlight of the programme was a vibrant cultural display of textiles of various Naga tribes. The presentation included narration of motifs and patterns used in the different tribal cloths.
 
Modern Week 2024 of Modern College, Piphema concluded with culmination of the finals of all the competitions on March 1. The Modern Week kicked started on February 26 with the Mini Marathon, followed by literary, cultural and sports. 
The Department of English, Nagaland University's Kohima Campus organised a national workshop focused on ‘Naga Traditional Knowledge Education: Implementation of Alternative Curriculum.’ The event, held on February 27 aimed to foster a deeper understanding of Naga culture and heritage through alternative educational approaches. Distinguished academic and founder of SPIC MACAY, Prof Kiran Seth, Padmashri and Professor at IIT Delhi, delivered a lecture on ‘Culture and Heritage.’  Participants engaged in fruitful discussions, shared experiences, and gained insights into innovative approaches to incorporating traditional knowledge into the academic curriculum. 
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Nagaland organized district level neighborhood youth parliament in collaboration with IQAC, Modern Institute of Teacher Education, Kohima on February 18. A brief introduction about NYKS was delivered by John Makhabo, Director in-charge, NYKS, Nagaland. Special guest Toshi O Longkumer, an Advocate talked about the Constitutional Rights and particularly spoke on the Fundamental Rights of the people and its importance. Dr HL Gangte, Vice Principal, spoke on the topic ‘Nari shakti.’ The student teachers participated in Mock Parliament. 
Oriental College, Kohima bid farewell to outgoing Principal, Dr Ketshukietuo Dzüvichü on March 1. Dr Ketshukietuo Dzüvichü rendered his 18 years of service to the college since November 29, 2004. In his speech, he thanked the sponsoring body for giving him the opportunity to serve the college, he thanked the teaching faculty and staffs for their support and to the students he advised them to be an asset to the society. The management, staff and students also spoke and thanked him for all his contribution.
Pfutsero Government College, Career Guidance Cell in collaboration with Emporium, Dimapur organised career guidance seminar on March 1 with the theme “Employment linked career guidance programme in the field of aviation, hospital and cruise line  sector in India & overseas.” The resources speaker Imsumeren Imsong, Hospitality Trainer and Business Development Executive, Emporium Dimapur, stressed on the various opportunities available to all the students. MoU was also signed between PGC and Emporium Dimapur for future collaborations. 
National Service Scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club of Phek Government College in collaboration with DAPCU, Phek organised a programme on ‘Inter-Personal Communication Campaign on Stigma and Discrimination’ on March 2. The resource persons were Kuduvo Kezo, DPO (District Program Officer) DAPCU, Phek and Velato Nienu, District Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant. Sensitization on issues like HIV & AIDS, the various stages and preventive measures were highlighted. Sensitization on what is STI, its symptoms, various types and preventive measures were also discussed. This was followed by an interaction hour. 
An intensive voting campaign was organised by National Service scheme and Electoral literary club of Pranabananda Women’s College from February 23 to 29 to create awareness on election process under the directive of Election Commission of India. A talk on voting guidelines and voting process for the first time voter was delivered by Anil Kumar Das, Assistant Professor, HOD Department of Political Science. A screening of videos on electoral system and neutral voting was also organised to create more awareness on the needs and importance of voting. A slogan contest was organised on the theme ‘Chunav ka parv, desh ka garv’ for the students, followed  by pledge on free and fair election was carried out.
The Sustainability and Waste team of Rajeshwari Karuna School, Tuli has been selected two years in a row to be among the 22 winners of the Wipro Earthian School Program. The selected teams were felicitated on February 24 at Bengaluru in the presence of Rishad Premji, Executive Chairman of Wipro Ltd. and Anurag Behar, CEO of Azim Premji Foundation. The 13th Edition of the Awards had over 1200 submissions on the themes of Waste, Biodiversity and Water from 7000+ students. 
District administration Kohima in collaboration with Zub Zub India organized an inaugural Programme of NCAP (National Clean Air Programme) under the theme Public Engagement and Consultation (workshops and programmes in colleges) on February 23 at Sazolie College. Dr Riku Khutso, NCS, EAC delivered the keynote address, where he spoke about the programmes and activities under NCAP. A short speech was delivered by Kumar Ramnikant, IAS Deputy Commissioner Kohima. Pelenuo Yhome from Zub Zub India discussed about NCAP and the things that we as a citizen can contribute to help tackle the issue. District Administration Kohima contributed four cycles to the NSS units of Sazolie College, which was flagged off by Dr Gopal Chetri on March 1 before proceeding with the last day of Sazolie College sports week. 
Unity College of Teacher Education, Dimapur in collaboration with the Zoe Theatre and Art Association Nihoto Village, Niuland organised ‘drama and art activity day’ on March 2. The 2nd semester student-teachers enacted four plays namely Anishe Xamunu, The Glass Ceiling, The Reborn and 7 Deadly Sin. The objective behind this activity was to create awareness about drama aiding in accelerating personality development and emphasis on creativity and self-expression of the student teacher's individuality and its importance in the field of Education.
District Level Neighbourhood Youth Parliament jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Longleng & Longleng District Administration was held on March 2 at CMTC Hall Longleng with EAC, Vitolu as special guest.  In the keynote address Kisor Barman, DYO, NYK Longleng briefed the gathering on how to register on Mybharat portal. Sports materials were distributed to 14 Youth clubs under Longleng district. EVM demonstration was also given by Election Department Longleng.
