Nagaland: NSF ramps up demand for Staff Selection Board

Kohima, February 22 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation on February 22 intensified its demand for a State Staff Selection Board and served a 15-day ultimatum to the Chief Minister along with a charter of demands.

The list of demands include approval and implementation of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board(NSSB) policy forwarded to the government by the NSSB Committee, issue of notification scrapping all departmental examinations and issue of notification banning direct recruitment to all Group C posts.

The NSF also demanded that the state government issue a notification stating that Group C posts shall be requisitioned through open recruitment by the NSSB.

The ultimatum comes after the Federation’s 2nd Presidential Council Meeting on Saturday where deliberations on the ‘rampant practice of backdoor appointments’ were held. It was resolved in this meeting that the Federation would henceforth, “boycott all departmental exams” and maintain “strict watch” over any new developments pertaining to the demands.

The Federation shall deal with any actions in contravention to the same by any department in a befitting manner, an NSF press release stated.

This is in the interest of the youths and students of the state, it added.
