DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 11 (MExN):  Nagaland Police veterans XI emerged champions of the 3rd Inter-District Veterans Football Tournament on Friday, February 11. The defending champions whacked Dimapur District Veterans Football Association XI – 5-0 in a rather one-sided final encounter at the NAPTC Stadium, Chumukedima.
NP veterans Lanu opened the goal-fest late in the first half (24th minute). Two minutes later Senti took the score to two-nil and a few minutes later, the match went into half-time. The playing time for matches in the tournament has been reduced to 60 minutes, with 30 minutes of play for each half.
The second-half turned out to be even worse for the DDVFA veterans as NP veterans pumped in three goals in quick succession. It was three minutes into the second-half when Yanbemo extended the lead to three goals. Lanu returned again in the 39th minute with a second goal for him and the team’s fourth. The final nail in the coffin for the DDVFA veterans came in the 50th minute through NP veterans’ Renthungo sealing the match in favour of the defending champions.
The final today was also witnessed by the DGP prisons & home guards, O Alem as the chief guest.  He gave away the prizes.
