Newly elected members of the Nagaland State Traditional Healers Association.

 

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13 (MExN): The North East Traditional Healers Association’s (NETHA) first TCHP certified felicitation cum launching of Nagaland State Traditional Healer's Association programme was held at NECU City Campus, Anchor Building Burma Camp, Dimapur on October 12. 


Dr Vikato Kinimi, Joint Director, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, who graced the occasion as special guest during his address reminded the gathering that the Government of Nagaland is trying to set up a separate Ayush department in the state, of which the traditional healers will also be part. He assured every possible coordination and wished them success.


Vice Chancellor, North East Christian University, Professor D Khading, in his speech briefed how the university has become part of the certification programme. He said that the traditional healers are being certified after going through different levels of assessments and once certified, their names and domains will be known to everyone around the work as it will be uploaded in the website of Quality Council of India. He meanwhile viewed that the recognition of such practitioners will not only help them but can be an encouragement for others as well. 


President NETHA, Dr. Hesheto Y Chishi while briefing the gathering said that the main purpose of forming NETHA was to extend PrCB under NECU and also aimed to revitalise the traditional health knowledge, preserve flora and fauna and environment safety and to render community service. 


During the programme the newly elected members of Nagaland State Traditional Healers Association was announced. The team will be led by Isato Achumi as president. 


Altogether 14 Traditional Community Healthcare Providers from Nagaland were certified during the function attended by representatives from different North Eastern states, officials of NETHA and NECU.


Other highlights of the function included S adding of certificates, momentos, special number, welcome address by General Secy NETHA, and vote of thanks by Isato Achumi. The function was chaired by VP Spasterlin Nongremi.
