Nagaland team participates at YWCA National Convention

Dimapur, February 21 (MExN): A team from Nagaland participated in the 30th National Convention of the YWCA of India held at Goa from February 11 to 13. The theme of the convention was “Women against violence.” Nearly a thousand delegates from 82 associations attended the convention. Nagaland was represented by sixteen YWCA members, where nine girls were special invitees as convention choir.  

The highlight of the convention was election of new office bearers from president to various committee members for the next quadrennium 2018-2022, informed a press note issued by Watila P. Belho, President, YWCA Dimapur.  

For the first time Nagaland participated in the National election. Watila P. Belho from YWCA of Dimapur was elected as National nominating committee member and Nungshisenla Ozukum from YWCA of Mokokchung as National Board Member.  

Another highlight of this convention was that, the sixth region was created by bifurcating the eastern region, namely the North east region. YWCA of India has now six regions such as Northern, Western, South west, South east, Eastern and North East region.
