DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): Nagaland has been chosen as the ‘Best Horticulture State’ in the 11th Global Agriculture Leadership Summit and Leadership Awards 2018.
This is one of 17 awards announced after the National Awards Committee of Agriculture Leadership Awards met in New Delhi last week and announced on the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (IFCA)’s Facebook page on October 20, the organiser of the summit. The awards will be presented at Summit scheduled in New Delhi on October 24and 25.
Instituted in 2008, the Agriculture Leadership Awards was recognised the “role of various stake-holders in driving the growth and value added transformation of farm sector.”
The awards are given annually in different categories to those individuals and organizations which have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields. The National Awards Committee is headed by the world renowned agriculture scientist, Prof. MS Swaminathan, with twenty six persons of national eminence as its members.
The Global Leadership Summit & Awards are being organised by the ICFA with support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare; Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Ministry of Commerce.
The Life Time Achievement Award for 2018 will be presented to Padamsree, Dr KH Gharda for his outstanding contributions to the Indian chemical sector with special interests in agrochemicals, which positively impacted the growth in India’s farm sector and created newer opportunities in the Indian agrochemical sector.
Meanwhile the International Leadership Award will go to Prof. Rudy Rabbinge, Special Envoy – Food Security, Government of Netherlands for his contributions in the field of food security and rural development.
