Nagaland U-23 trashes Sikkim

Dimapur, January 21 (MExN): Nagaland thrashed Sikkim by 201 runs in the first match of the BCCI Under-23 One Day matches for the North East and Bihar Zone being played at Patna in Bihar.

In a match reduced to 38 overs a side owing to bad weather, Nagaland’s opening pair of Sedezalie Rupreo (124 n.o.) and Puchu Deb (65) made merry after being put into bat completing a century partnership of 112 runs before Deb fell.

Rupreo carried through the innings with the bat assisted by Hemant (30 runs) and Ravi (26) as Nagaland put on a mammoth 279 runs losing just 4 wickets in the 38 overs – a run rate of over 7.3 per over.   In the run chase, the Sikkim batsmen were unable to negotiate the bowling of Tahmeed who ripped through the Sikkim batting order picking 4 wickets with his wily spin bowling. The Sikkim boys were bundled out for just 78 runs. Nagaho and Nadeem picked a couple of wickets each for Nagaland.

Nagaland will next take on Meghalaya at Urja Stadium in Patna on January 23.
