Nagaland University conducts annual sports c’ship

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 21 (MExN): The annual Nagaland University Sports Championship & Camp 2018 was held at the university headquarters Lumami from August 17 to 20 under the patronage of Prof Pardeshi Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University.  

Students representing the University (headquarters Lumami) and various colleges from seven districts of Nagaland participated in Air Rifle Peep Sight Shooting, Half Marathon, Cross-Country, Judo and Open Sight Shooting events.  

The closing ceremony was held on August 20 at I Ihoshe Kinimi Hall, NU, Lumami. The programme was chaired by Llovily Sumi, General Secretary, NUSU (L). A welcome song was presented by Evangelical Union, NU Lumami. This was followed by address from the Chief Guest Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University who exhorted the gathering saying that total fine-tuning of personality is achieved through sports and games.  

Prizes were given away by Dr. Baljit Singh Sekhon, Dy. Director, Sports, Nagaland University while the championship was declared by Prof. Pardeshi Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Nagaland University. The vote of thanks was delivered by Peter Ki, PRO, Nagaland University.  

The best team for the various events under Judo category was Kohima Science College, while for Air Rifle Shooting and Athletic categories the best teams were Sazolie College and Nagaland University (headquarters Lumami) respectively. Special awards were given to Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung and Zunheboto Government College. Finally, Sazolie College was declared the overall champion team.
