NAGALAND - WHICH WAY?

This document carries the sentiment and conviction of Nagaland as a land of biblical faith and Christians. Signing the document on behalf of Naga Christian public and concerned church leaders, we appeal to one and all, specially our leaders and legislators to refrain from any political and secular influence subtly enshrined and embedded by a religious fanaticism and fundamentalism under the pretext of any political platform.

Biblical Foundation of Nagaland

From time immemorial, the Nagas are casteless, non-idolatrous, and adherents of original religion which is Animism. But at our own volition, we accepted biblical faith some 145 years ago knowing that it is not a foreign religion but that was what we waited for spiritual reason. Let the world know that no Naga became an adherent of other religions except Christian faith. Hence, knowing the truth and value of our belief in God, Nagaland predominantly and openly became a land of Christians.

In process of our allegiance to biblical faith, the Nagas dedicated our land to the Lord Jesus Christ in our history as Nagaland Baptist Church Council which is the apex body of all tribal churches. As the Lord Jesus Christ has been good to the Nagas and our land, the Nagas will ever remain faithful to Him under any circumstance, be political, social or religious. And, in the name of God, we vow to defend and promote the faith of our fathers which is Christian faith in Christ. And we further vow to ward off any fanatical fundamentalism that comes and tends to destroy or thwart the heritage of our faith through any secular ideology or political platform.

We appeal to general public and leaders specially, legislators who are members of their respective churches and were elected by much prayer of Christians to distinguish the difference and refrain from socio-religious deception and enticement, and remain steadfast and unmoved in their Christian faith in their political journey. Loss of wealth is loss of nothing because we can regain it. But loss of our relationship with God, the Creator, is loss of everything because it is a matter of eternal life and death. Therefore, hereafter, we vow to stand firm and that 'We will not sacrifice our land and biblical foundation at the altar of a non-biblical ideology or fanatical fundamentalism in a wave of political election and option.'

Nagaland Clean Election

The result of undemocratic exercise of Election is the root of corruption and social evils Based on evaluation of manner of past elections and biblical principle, the NBCC is engineering and exploring a cleaner and healthier way of electing our leaders to manage public affairs. As Christians, we must elect our leaders of principle in a worthy manner with sanctity and integrity that would bring glory to God and promote the health of our bodies and souls, and society. And hence, the public of Nagaland is expected to appreciate and follow the guidelines and directives outlined by the NBCC.

Sale and purchase of votes is spiritually a crime since it is an act against your birthright which is given by God. And the exercise of such mal-practice is a crucifixion to holistic development of our land. The time has come for the public to wake up and rise above unhealthy schemes such as manipulation and corruption that damaged our past image. Let us hold unto positive and redemptive ways that would bring a new and better calibration to one and all. Sale and purchase of votes means your future is already consigned for a dispatch. Clean Election is a possible victory.

The Bible tells us ’Many are the plans in man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevail' (Proverbs 1 9:21), 'Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord' (Psalms 33:12).   God bless Nagaland!
