Nagaland’s 1st indigenous games competition concludes

A two-day event of the first state level indigenous games competition under the aegis of youth resources & sports department in commemoration with Dr. T Ao 100th birth anniversary concluded today at IG Stadium, Kohima.


In the valedictory function, Akumla Chuba, director youth resources and sports (YRS) gave away prize to the winners


Dimapur district bagged first position in tug of war event and received a cash prize of Rs 20,000. Kohima and Phek district received Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 after winning 2nd and 3rd place respectively.


Thungyamo Lotha representing Wokha district stood first position in cock fight competition. Toiko Yeptho representing Zunheboto district secured second and Langphung of Longleng district stood third position.


In stilt bamboo walk race, Vilopu of Zunheboto district bagged the first position followed by Thito (Phek) and Shilukaba (Mokokchung) in second and third position respectively.


In greased bamboo climbing competition, Mhathung of Wokha district was adjusted as the winner, second position- Virasato Kehie (Kohima) and third- Vesa Kezo (Phek).


All the winners for each individual categories received Rs. 7000 for first position, Rs 5000 and Rs. 3000 each for second and third position respectively.
