Both the technology-based initiatives were officially launched on October 5, a department official told The Morung Express.

The website ‘www.nfes.nagaland.gov.in’ is designed with latest cutting-edge technology, was designed by NK Square Infotech Pvt Ltd, an ISO certified company that provides IT services.

According to a press release from the office of the Inspector General (F&ES), the department has also envisioned to integrate more functionalities and capabilities in the second phase of the project.

With the objective of providing better service to the public, the web services such as online job application, fire incidents and responses, public grievances, digital payment and many others are in the offing, it said.

State-of-art technology
The department is planning to supplement the existing portal with an application called SFESRS (Smart Fire & Emergency Service Response System) in the near future, it added.

Supported in mobile devices, the application will be integrated with features that will allow citizens to send real-time fire incidents via a messaging system to the nearest fire station.

“This will enhance the fire personnel’s efficiency in delivering prompt response and service to the citizens,” the department said.

It further maintained that the website both Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW) compliant.

WCAG is the guidelines that make Web content more accessible to “people with disabilities,” while GIGW is the “prescribes procedures to be adopted for use in the Government Functioning in order to increase productivity in work and provide responsive administration.”

Apart from many regular updates departmental activities and organizational structures, the website had a section on ‘Public Information, Safety & Compliance,’ an advisory on fire safety, when The Morung Express browsed through the F&ES’s website on October 5.
