National Consumer Day observed in Nagaland

Kohima, January 6 (MExN): The NVCO observed week-long celebration of ‘National Consumer Day’ in Nagaland highlighting the significance of National Consumer Day. The observation of National Consumer Day provides opportunity for highlighting the importance of the consumer movement and the need to make the consumer more aware of their rights and responsibilities, particularly in the rural areas.  

The NVCO week-long observance started on December 18, 2017 by visiting gas agencies in Kohima Town, followed by motor parts shop and check-gates situated in and around Kohima. The team also visited the markets with an appeal not to cheat the consumers.  

As part of the celebration, the NVCO also pledged to stand for Clean Election. It also appealed to ensure citizen’s rights by honouring their entitlements especially beneficiaries of AAY and Priority Household (PHH) under the National Food Security Act 2013.  

Further, National Consumer Day was observed on December 24, 2017 along with the “7th Anniversary of Nagaland State Consumer Helpline with Toll Free – 1800-345-3701 as an alternate consumer disputes redressal agency.”
