A two week long National Handloom Expo under the aegis of Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC) Dimapur got underway here today at Gorkha Public Panchayat Ground, Chandmari.
Inaugurating the expo, Lithrongla G. Chishi, commissioner and secretary for industries & commerce urged upon the weavers and artisans to make the best use of this platform by sharing their ideas and also get in touch with the department on various schemes being extended by the government and get maximum benefit from it.
She said that such kind of platform provides opportunity to the weavers and artisans to promote and strengthen their business activities.
NHHDC deputy manager S. Meren Ao said that 50 stalls have been set up with participants from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur and Nagaland
Sponsored by Office of the Development Commissioner, (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, the Expo will go on till April 3.
